SDMO X2700: MTU-Powered Industrial Strength at 2133 kWe Standby

The SDMO X2700 is a Performance Class G3 diesel generator driven by a 20-cylinder MTU 20V4000G23F engine and paired with a Leroy-Somer LSA 51.2 VL95 alternator, delivering 2133 kWe standby and 1939 kWe prime power at 50 Hz for the most demanding large-scale power applications. 

Compliant with Uptime Institute Tier III and IV requirements under its DCC rating, the X2700 is one of the most capable generator sets in the SDMO range, purpose-built for critical infrastructure where continuous availability is essential.

The X2700 carries a 10% overload capacity available for one hour in twelve under DCC operating conditions, with unlimited annual operating hours at constant or varying load, making it a genuine long-term solution for data centers and mission-critical facilities. 

Its DCC rating compliance is in accordance with ISO 8528-1, ISO 3046-1, BS 5514, and AS 2789, giving operators the regulatory assurance needed for Tier III and IV installations.

X2700 Engine and Thermal Performance

The MTU 20V4000G23F is a turbocharged 20-cylinder engine producing a peak standby output of 2420 kW with a BMEP of 18.46 bar and piston speeds of 10.50 m/s, supported by an intake air flow of 2400 L/s for sustained high-output operation. 

Heat rejection to exhaust reaches 1482 kW with an additional 860 kW transferred to the coolant system, all managed through a thermostat range of 79 to 92 degrees Celsius and a maximum outlet water temperature of 100 degrees Celsius.

X2700 Alternator and Electrical Quality

The LSA 51.2 VL95 alternator delivers a continuous nominal rating of 2500 kVA at 40°C and a standby rating of 2750 kVA, with an exceptional full load efficiency of 96.4% and total harmonic distortion held below 3.5% under both load and no-load conditions. 

Its brushless, direct-coupled design features Class H insulation, IP23 protection, short circuit maintenance capability of 3 In for 10 seconds, an engine starting capacity of 5000 kVA, and a transient voltage dip of just 10.9% under full four-quarter load.

Control Panel Options

The X2700 supports three control panel configurations to suit varying levels of operational complexity. The M80 provides essential engine parameter monitoring for straightforward installations, while the TELYS adds full electrical measurement, comprehensive fault alarms covering overspeed, coolant temperature, and battery voltage, plus USB and PC connectivity for remote monitoring and control. 

For the large-scale power plant environments the X2700 is designed to serve, the optional APM802 touchscreen controller delivers IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC functionality, modular scalability, and a human-machine interface purpose-built for hospitals, data centers, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical applications.
