MTU Engine Performance in the ACBCMU700S-60
At the core of this generator is the MTU 12V 2000 G45 TD, a turbocharged, air to air aftercooled engine displacing 23.88 liters across twelve cylinders arranged in a Vee configuration. At standby rating, the engine produces 781 kWm (1047 bhp) gross power at a steady 1800 RPM, with net power reaching 738 kWm (990 bhp) after fan losses.
The engine relies on MTU's ADEC electronic governor and ECU with CANBus integration to hold frequency steady under shifting loads. Fuel consumption comes in at 192.3 L/hr at 100% standby power, dropping to 144.9 L/hr at 75% and 98.4 L/hr at 50%, figures that matter when planning fuel storage and runtime for continuous operations.
Power Ratings and Voltage Configuration
The ACBCMU700S-60 delivers 813 kVA / 650 kWe prime power alongside its 875 kVA / 700 kWe standby rating, with amperage reaching 1148 at 480/277V and scaling up across additional voltage options including 440/254V and 220/127V. Prime power ratings apply where average load doesn't exceed 75% of the rating, allowing a brief 10% overload for one hour in twelve.
Standby power is reserved for emergency use up to 500 hours per year where average load stays under 85% of the standby rating, with no overload permitted. All ratings conform to ISO 8528-1 and ISO 3046-1 standards, giving buyers confidence in performance claims backed by internationally recognized testing protocols.
Stamford Alternator and Control System
The CGT Stamford HCI 634 alternator features a 4-pole, 3-phase design with Class H insulation, separately excited through a PMG system, and an MX 321 automatic voltage regulator that holds output remarkably tight within plus or minus 0.5%. This level of voltage precision matters for sensitive equipment often found in the data centers and industrial facilities this generator typically serves.
Control is handled by the BC 7310 system, built on the Deep Sea DSE7310 platform, providing digital monitoring of coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, amperage, frequency, and power factor along with RS485 telemetry and automatic cool-down timing.
Scaling Up with the ACBCMU700S-60
Operators managing multi-generator installations can upgrade to the BC 7320 control system for full AMF functionality with integrated mains monitoring, or step up to BC 8610 and BC 8620 for set to set synchronization and single set to mains supply synchronization.
For facilities running multiple units in parallel, BC 8610 combined with the BC 8660 mains monitoring panel enables coordinated load sharing across the full generator fleet, making the ACBCMU700S-60 a scalable foundation for critical power infrastructure.
