OVERVIEW

ACBCV550-60T2F - Volvo | 550 kW 688 kVA Diesel Generator

The ACBCV550-60T2F from Broadcrown is a heavy duty industrial generator built around a water cooled Volvo diesel engine and a Cummins Generator Technologies Stamford alternator. Designed for facilities that need substantial standby or prime power, this unit combines proven Volvo engineering with EPA Tier II Flex compliance for dependable, code conscious operation.

  • Engine: Volvo TAD1642GE, turbocharged, air to air aftercooled, 6 cylinder inline
  • Alternator: CGT Stamford HCI 544 E, single bearing, direct coupled
  • Standby (LTP) rating: 550 kWe / 688 kVA at 480/277V
  • Prime (PRP) rating: 500 kWe / 625 kVA at 480/277V
  • Power factor: 0.8
  • Frequency: 60 Hz, three phase
  • Engine speed: 1800 RPM
  • Governing: Electronic governor with ECU and CANBus integration
  • Dry weight (open set, including oil): 4496 kg
  • Version: Enclosed (Fully Weather Proof Silent Enclosure)
  • EPA Compliant: EPA Tier 2 Stationary Emergency

Every unit ships with a factory test certificate confirming performance before it ever reaches the job site. Built on a fully welded steel skid base with heavy duty anti-vibration mountings, this generator is engineered to handle demanding industrial environments without compromise.

Volvo Engine Performance in the ACBCV550-60T2F

The Volvo TAD1642GE engine at the heart of this generator is a turbocharged, air to air aftercooled 6 cylinder inline unit with a cubic capacity of 16.12 liters. Running at 1800 RPM, it delivers a gross power of 604 kWm at standby and 551 kWm at prime, with net output of 585 kW standby and 532 kW prime after fan losses.

Electronic governing through ECU and CANBus integration keeps the engine responsive to load changes while maintaining tight control over emissions and fuel delivery. Fuel consumption comes in at 150.1 liters per hour at 100 percent standby power, with a standard fuel tank capacity of 755 liters for extended runtime between refueling.

Stamford Alternator Built for Reliable Output

Paired with the Volvo engine is the CGT Stamford HCI 544 E alternator, a self excited, single bearing design directly coupled to the engine for efficient power transfer. Operating at a power factor of 0.8 with Class H insulation, the alternator maintains voltage regulation within plus or minus 1.0 percent across the load range.

The AS 440 AVR system ensures stable output even as demand shifts, making this alternator well suited for facilities running sensitive equipment that depends on consistent voltage.

Digital Control System and Monitoring

The standard control system on this model is the BC 7310, based on the Deep Sea Electronics DSE7310 digital auto start controller. It provides manual and automatic remote start capability along with full CANBus implementation for engine control and protection.

The LCD digital display shows coolant temperature, oil pressure, oil temperature, engine hours, battery charge status, and full electrical readings including volts, amps, frequency, kW, kVA, and power factor.

For facilities needing expanded functionality, the BC 7320 adds full AMF capability with integrated mains monitoring, while the BC 8610 and BC 8620 systems introduce set to set and set to mains synchronization for multi generator installations.

Enclosure Options for Outdoor Deployment

For operations requiring outdoor protection, the optional Canopy 6R acoustic enclosure is built from fully welded steel with a two pack polyurethane finish designed to withstand harsh environments.

The canopy reduces sound pressure levels to 78 dB(A) at 1 meter, achieved through extensive rock wool insulation and a high performance exhaust silencer mounted within the baseframe. Features like side opening doors, a separate breaker access panel, and heavy duty locks on all doors make service access straightforward while maintaining security.

Standard Features and Available Options

This generator arrives with an integral fuel tank, spin on oil and fuel filters, a dry type air filter element, and an industrial silencer supplied loose for a 15dBA reduction. A wide range of options extends functionality further, including coolant heaters, alternative AVR configurations, low fuel level switches, and quadrature droop kits for parallel operation, giving facility managers the flexibility to configure this generator to their exact operational needs.
