Volvo Engine Performance in the ACBCV300-60

Powering this unit is the Volvo TAD 1351GE, a turbocharged and air to air aftercooled engine displacing 12.78 liters across six cylinders. At standby rating, the engine produces 335 kWm (449 bhp) gross power at a steady 1800 RPM, with net power reaching 323 kWm (433 bhp) after fan losses. Electronic governing through the ECU and CANBus system keeps engine response precise under fluctuating loads.

Fuel consumption comes in at 82.5 L/hr at 100% standby power, dropping to 62.4 L/hr at 75% and 43.4 L/hr at 50%, giving operators predictable running costs. Altitude capability extends to 1000 meters (3300 ft), and the engine's bore and stroke of 131mm by 158mm reflect the heavy duty build quality Volvo is known for.

Power Ratings and Voltage Configuration

The ACBCV300-60 delivers 275 kVA / 220 kWe prime power alongside its 375 kVA / 300 kWe standby rating at 480/277V, with amperage climbing across other available voltage configurations including 440/254V, 416/240V, 240/138V, and 220/127V.

Prime power ratings apply to continuous variable load operation where average load stays under 70% of rating, allowing a brief 10% overload for one hour in twelve. Standby power is reserved for emergency use up to 500 hours per year with no overload permitted, in accordance with ISO 8528-1 and ISO 3046-1 standards. This flexibility across voltage options makes the unit adaptable to a wide range of destination electrical systems.

Stamford Alternator and Control System

The CGT Stamford HCI 444 alternator features a 4-pole, 3-phase design with Class H insulation, self-excitation, and an AS 440 automatic voltage regulator holding output steady within plus or minus 1.0%.

Control is handled by the BC 7310 system, built on the Deep Sea DSE7310 platform, which provides digital monitoring of coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, amperage, frequency, and power factor along with RS485 telemetry and automatic cool-down timing. For sites requiring synchronization or mains monitoring, the BC 7320, BC 8610, and BC 8620 control upgrades are also available.

Enclosure and Site Configuration for the ACBCV300-60

Operators needing outdoor protection can specify the optional Canopy 5R acoustic enclosure, which brings sound pressure down to 78 dB(A) at one meter while adding side opening doors, external service access panels, and heavy duty locking for security. The canopy's fully welded steel construction and rock wool acoustic lining meet EU noise legislation requirements.

Additional configuration options include coolant heaters, alternative fuel systems with integral bunds, anti-condensation heaters for the alternator, and upgraded exhaust silencing, making this unit adaptable to nearly any installation environment or regulatory requirement.
