Designed specifically for coupling into larger power plant configurations, the X2500UC2 II represents SDMO's approach to scalable, high output generation for the most demanding facility requirements.
MTU Engine Performance in the X2500UC2 II
At the core of this generator is the MTU 16V4000G83LE, a 16-cylinder, V-form, turbocharged engine with air and water DC cooling, displacing 76.27 cubic inches and running at a steady 1800 RPM. The engine reaches a maximum standby power of 2740 kW at rated speed, providing meaningful headroom above the unit's nameplate rating.
Fuel consumption at 110% load reaches 685 L/hr, with a maximum fuel pump flow of 1200 L/hr supporting sustained high output operation. Heat rejection figures reflect the scale of this engine, with 1115 to 750 kW rejected to coolant and 90 kW radiated to ambient, numbers that underscore the importance of proper site cooling infrastructure when planning an installation of this size.
Power Rating Built for Standby Applications
The X2500UC2 II is configured specifically as a standby (ESP) rated generator, delivering 2500 kW and 3125 kVA for emergency backup applications with no overload permitted, in accordance with ISO 8528-1. This unit does not carry a published prime power rating, reflecting its design intent as a dedicated standby and coupling solution rather than a continuous duty generator.
Standby amperage reaches 3759 amps at 480/277V, giving a clear picture of the electrical infrastructure required to support this level of output. Emissions data shows particulate matter at 0.04 g/kWh, carbon monoxide at 0.9 g/kW.h, and hydrocarbons at 0.13 g/kW.h, figures relevant for facilities operating under environmental compliance requirements.
LSA Alternator Engineering and Electrical Performance
The LSA 51.2 VL95 alternator delivers a continuous nominal rating of 3000 kVA at 40°C and a standby rating of 3300 kVA at 27°C, with efficiency reaching 96.30% at full load. This alternator features Class H insulation, a direct coupled single bearing design, and total harmonic distortion held below 3.5% both at no load and under load.
The brushless, collarless technology reduces maintenance demands over the life of the unit, while the AVR regulation system and short circuit maintaining capacity of three times rated current for 10 seconds provide the electrical resilience that mission critical power applications require.
Coupling Ready Design and Control Systems for the X2500UC2 II
Built for coupling configurations, this generator pairs naturally with SDMO's APM802 command and control system, which comes standard on generating sets from 275 kVA designed for coupling applications.
The APM802 offers a large touchscreen interface with PLC and regulation communication functions compliant with IEC 61131-3, purpose built for power plant management across hospitals, data centers, banks, and industrial facilities. For simpler installations, the M80 dual function unit or the ergonomic TELYS panel remain available, giving buyers flexibility to match control sophistication to the scale of their power plant deployment.
