SDMO D550: Doosan-Powered Standby Performance at 440 kWe

The SDMO D550 is a robust 440 kWe standby diesel generator built around a Doosan DP158LDF engine and AT01980T alternator, engineered to deliver dependable 50 Hz power for commercial and industrial operations where reliability under variable load conditions is essential. 

ISO 8528-1 compliant and ready for continuous duty, the D550 combines a high-output 8-cylinder Doosan engine with a proven brushless alternator in a compact, field-ready package.

Every D550 ships complete with oil and coolant pre-filled to minus 30°C, a 24V charging alternator and starter, main line circuit breaker, and a 9 dB(A) silencer supplied separately. The mechanically welded chassis with antivibration suspension and heavy-duty radiator rated for wiring temperatures up to 50°C ensures the unit is ready to perform from the first day of service.

D550 Engine and Thermal Performance

The Doosan DP158LDF is a turbocharged V8 engine producing a maximum standby output of 510 kW with an impressive BMEP of 25.39 bar and a fan air flow capacity of 11.70 m3/s. Heat rejection to exhaust reaches 473 kW with an additional 226 kW transferred to the coolant, all managed through a thermostat range of 71 to 85 degrees Celsius and a maximum intake air flow of 552 L/s.

D550 Alternator and Electrical Quality

The AT01980T alternator delivers a continuous nominal rating of 500 kVA at 40°C with a full load efficiency of 94.6%, and maintains total harmonic distortion at just 2.4% under load and 2.6% at no load. 

Its brushless, direct-coupled design features Class H insulation, IP21 protection, a short circuit maintenance capability of 3 In for 10 seconds, and a voltage regulation tolerance of plus or minus 1%, making it a dependable choice for facilities requiring consistent power quality.

Control Panel Options

The D550 comes standard with the TELYS control panel, which provides a large display screen with scroll wheel navigation for intuitive monitoring of voltmeter, frequency, ammeter, oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, engine speed, and battery voltage, along with a full fault alarm suite. 

For power plant environments with greater complexity, the optional APM802 touchscreen controller delivers IEC 61131-3 compliant customization, full PLC communication functions, and a modular, scalable architecture well suited to hospitals, data centers, industrial plants, and other mission-critical facilities.
